League of Women Voters Presentation

League of Women Voters Presentation Online

Come join us on Zoom for a debate about “Is the Electoral College is outdated?”

Our guests will be Dr. Pat Richey and his Blue Raider debate team from Middle Tennessee State University, in Murfreesboro.  The Blue Raider debate has a long history, beginning when MTSU opened in 1911.  The participants debating will be Captain Steven Barhorst, a junior, Hannah Rowland, a senior, Haley Bobo, a senior and Joey Mego, a sophomore.  Come learn with us about this timely subject.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan volunteer organization that promotes engaged, informed, and active participation in government. Since the creation of the national organization 100 years ago — before women were ever guaranteed the right to vote — its programs and activities have focused not just on voting rights for all citizens, but the broader picture of civic engagement that includes everything from participating in the census to walking into the polling place for the first time. Learning more about public policies and issues allows members of the public to make informed decisions about the matters that impact their communities.

We will EMAIL the ZOOM link to all registrants on the Tuesday before the meeting. If you register after Tuesday, when the link is emailed, you will be added to the waitlist. This means you may still attend, but you will get the link closer to the time the program is due to begin. Email maddie.hicks@brentwoodtn.gov with any questions.

The Zoom link is not a library-sponsored Zoom account and is provided by the League of Women Voters.

The Library adheres to the Americans with Disabilities Act that assures equal access to all library facilities, activities, and programs.  For reasonable and timely accommodations, refer to the https://www.brentwoodtn.gov/departments/library/library-programs and contact the program organizer.  Any ADA accommodations necessary for a program attendee will require at least one week of prior notice before the program or event.
