League of Women Voters Carbon Pricing and Climate Change

League of Women Voters Carbon Pricing and Climate Change In-Person

Please join us Wednesday, October 20th when we will hear from Fred LeMaym speaking about carbon pricing and climate change. Fred LeMay grew up in northern Michigan and graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in political science and history. Fred has worked in the property and casualty insurance industry his entire working life, witnessing the challenge of predicting probabiltiies in a changing climate. Fred lives in Franklin with his wife Susan. They are members of Christ United Methodist Church. Their two children attended Williamson County schools and the University of Tennessee. Both now live in Nashville with their spouses and children. With Jon Fite, Fred co-founded the Williamson county chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, an organization dedicated to addressing the challenges of climate change with an emphasis on lobbying our U.S. Senators and Representatives on climate related initiatives.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan volunteer organization that promotes engaged, informed, and active participation in government. Since the creation of the national organization 100 years ago — before women were ever guaranteed the right to vote — its programs and activities have focused not just on voting rights for all citizens, but the broader picture of civic engagement that includes everything from participating in the census to walking into the polling place for the first time. Learning more about public policies and issues allows members of the public to make informed decisions about the matters that impact their communities.

We will EMAIL the ZOOM link to all registrants on Tuesday, October 19th. If you register after Tuesday, when the link is emailed, you will be added to the waitlist. This means you may still attend, but you will get the link closer to the time the program is due to begin. Email paige.wilson@brentwoodtn.gov with any questions.

The Zoom link is not a library sponsored Zoom account and is provided by the League of Women Voters.
