ONLINE - League of Women Voters presentation In-Person

Our speaker this month will be Jeffrey Barrie who has advocated for environmental solutions throughout his professional career, which he launched in 1993 after graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. Ever since Jeff has applied his loves of filmmaking and grassroots organizing towards the cause, and derives great fulfillment in making a difference in this field. Jeff has produced award-winning feature documentaries on the value of Environmental Education (Generational Earth - 1995), the importance of preserving the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (Arctic Quest - 1999), and the benefits of energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable power (Kilowatt Ours - 2008). Jeff has defined his career by leveraging the power of documentary storytelling combined with public strategies to lead to positive changes in the world.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan volunteer organization that promotes engaged, informed, and active participation in government. Since the creation of the national organization 100 years ago — before women were ever guaranteed the right to vote — its programs and activities have focused not just on voting rights for all citizens, but the broader picture of civic engagement that includes everything from participating in the census to walking into the polling place for the first time. Learning more about public policies and issues allows members of the public to make informed decisions about the matters that impact their communities.

We will EMAIL the ZOOM link to all registrants on Tuesday, Oct 20. If you register after Tuesday, when the link is emailed, you will be added to the waitlist. This means you may still attend, but you will get the link closer to the time the program is due to begin. Email brigid.day@brentwoodtn.gov with any questions.
