High Definition: Creative Writing for Neurodivergent Creatives

High Definition: Creative Writing for Neurodivergent Creatives In-Person

How to write with a brain that forgets what it said five seconds ago.

Join us to learn from published author Alora Young as she shares the tricks, tools, and rituals that helped her write and publish multiple books before turning 21, all while navigating autism, ADHD, OCD, and mental illness. Whether you forget where you put your outline or you hyperfocus for twelve hours straight without blinking, this talk is for you. Alora doesn’t teach you how to “overcome” your brain, she teaches you how to write with it, through it, because of it.

This program will be presented by Alora Young, a poet, a songwriter, a playwright, and a Presidential Scholar. She was the 2020-2021 Youth Poet Laureate of Nashville and the Southern United States. She signed her first book deal, Walking Gentry Home, with Hogarth, a division of Penguin Random House, when she was 18 years old. Young has created works for the United Nations and has performed at the Kennedy Center. Her poetry has appeared in The New York Times and The Washington Post, and she has performed her poetry on CNN, CBS, and the TEDx stage.

Ages 12-18 welcome
