Mushrooms: Home Cultivation and Preservation

Mushrooms: Home Cultivation and Preservation In-Person

Jenny McKee returns to lead us in our exploration of mushrooms!

Cultivating Health with Mushrooms
Let’s grow culinary and medicinal mushrooms! Building upon what we learned in our first class, Introduction to Mushrooms, we’ll dive deeper into the world of mycology and discover how to harness a mushroom’s power from home. In this second class, we’ll talk about three low-cost ways to cultivate mushrooms in any home setting, how to make your own medicine from them, demonstrate how to make spore prints and discuss the incredible benefits of Lion's Mane and Reishi mushrooms. And of course, door prizes! Bring a notebook for this one!

A little introduction from the presenter:

"I've been a resident of Tennessee since 1989. I was born in Colorado, where I developed a love and appreciation for nature. With an early exposure to emergency medicine as an EMT-I, plant medicine and mushrooms became a passion of mine. It has been my experience that Western medicine hasn't always held the answers for me. This has led me on a lifelong journey into the natural sphere of health and healing. Being an outdoor enthusiast has offered great opportunities to learn more about mushrooms, how and where they grow, and how we can better incorporate them into our lives for the goal of better health, cleaner food, and better well-being."
