History Hour: Murder and Mystery in Belle Meade In-Person

Join us for our new History Hour series as we explore fascinating people, places, and events that changed history and left a lasting impact on our world. 

Maureen Vaughan will share mysteries in the history of Belle Meade and one of its residents, Alexander Vaulx. Alexander was enslaved at Belle Meade Plantation, worked there after emancipation, and struck out on his own to ensure a better life for his children. His life was filled with twists and turns.

Bio:  Maureen Vaughan is a researcher whose graduate work in anthropology was conducted at The University of Edinburgh and Queen's University Belfast. She spent time as a curator at Belle Meade. She has since established her own consultancy, performing research tasks of various kinds, including helping those interested in establishing their genealogy.
