Screenplay Confidential

Screenplay Confidential In-Person

Lights! Camera! Action! Before directors, actors, and studios can even think about filming, they must have a screenplay. In this workshop, Rick Reichman, founder of Screenwriting Confidential, will show participants the basic fundamentals of what makes a great screenplay - the scene. We will build a scene from scratch, first describing what a written scene is and does and then showing the seven elements that every scene must have. Knowing how to build each scene is the secret to every great script.

Rick graduated from the University of Southern California with an MFA in writing. He has optioned two screenplays and written several documentaries and training film scripts. He is the author of two award-winning books, Screenwriting, Formatting Your Screenplay, and 20 Things You Must Know to Write a Great Screenplay.

Rick's students have gone on to sell scripts to many Hollywood studios. His students have also been on staff and/or written for various television shows, including Roseanne, Home Improvement, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena: Warrior Princess, The Mentalist, and the new Magnum PI.
